"Mission" Sofa by Jack Crebolder for Harvink, The Netherlands, 1980s

Striking and highly architectural ‘Mission’ sofa designed by Jack Crebolder and produced by Harvink in the Netherlands during the 1980s.
 
Crebolder conceived this sofa not as a conventional wall-bound seating element, but as a freestanding object within an open interior. This intention is clearly reflected in the design: a low, horizontal black lacquered wooden platform extends on both sides, creating integrated surfaces and allowing the piece to be experienced from all angles.
 
The seating consists of loose black leather cushions, supported at the front by slender chromed metal legs, giving the sofa a floating appearance. The contrast between the solid volume of the base and the lightness of the metal structure enhances its sculptural presence.
 
The result is a piece that operates at the intersection of furniture and architecture — equally functional as seating and as a spatial element within a room.
 
Good vintage condition with visible patina to the leather, including creasing and signs of use consistent with age. The wooden platform shows minor wear. Structurally sound and ready for use.
