Pair of "Hombre" lounge chairs by Burkhard Vogtherr for Rosenthal, 1970s
Pair of lounge chairs from the Hombre series, designed by Burkhard Vogtherr for Rosenthal, produced as part of the Rosenthal Furniture program.
In 1972, Rosenthal expanded its activities beyond porcelain and introduced a dedicated furniture collection, manufactured in its own factory in Espelkamp, Germany. Under the Rosenthal Furniture label, the company collaborated with leading designers, including Burkhard Vogtherr, resulting in distinctive furniture characterized by clarity of construction, high material quality, and disciplined proportions.
The Hombre lounge chairs feature solid wood frames with continuous sled-style legs and softly rounded armrests. Loose leather seat and back cushions are set within the frame, clearly expressing the structure while providing a comfortable and relaxed seating experience.
This pair retains its original grey leather upholstery, showing a natural patina and light wear consistent with age and use. The wooden frames are in very good condition, with a warm finish and no structural issues.
